Feather Cocktail Hat

Millinery workshop 201

This workshop will introduce the use of cocktail hat for different occasions. Each student will create a cocktail hat in the shape and color of their choice made from sinamay fabric. Using feather as the major decorative media to create different forms of aesthetic.

  •  Introducing the material – sinamay as the base and feather as a popular decorative media for headpieces

  • Understanding the characteristic of feather

  • Color pairing – how to mix & match the color of the feather to suit your skin tone

  • Trimmings - creating trimmings on feather to achieve different art forms.

  • Setting - how to set the cocktail hat on to your head.

  • Basic materials and tools are provided.

// Outcome //By the end of this course you will:

  •  Have an understanding of what materials we use for hats / fascinators / millinery

  • Basic knowledge of handling feather decoration

  • Take home a customized hat piece

  • Gain knowledge on feather characteristics.
